US car costs · editable examples

What does this vehicle really cost per month?

Choose a popular US car, SUV or pickup, then change its out-the-door price, mileage, insurance, gas or charging, maintenance and future resale value. Every model uses the same method.

Start with the complete price

Do not compare the monthly payment alone.

A lower payment can hide a longer loan, higher total interest, dealer add-ons, negative equity or a large depreciation cost.

Why these vehicles?

Selected from current US sales demand

The first collection prioritizes models appearing near the top of 2026 US sales rankings, then uses EPA/DOE efficiency figures for a named version. This avoids publishing hundreds of thin pages.

Frequently asked questions

Understand the US model cost pages

What does each US vehicle-cost page include?

Each page combines estimated depreciation, gasoline or electricity, insurance, parking, maintenance, repairs, tires and an editable allowance for registration and state fees.

Are the monthly figures official US averages?

No. EPA or manufacturer efficiency data is documented, but purchase price, insurance, maintenance, fees and resale are editable examples rather than quotes or national averages.

Why do the gasoline pages use US MPG?

US pages use EPA miles per US gallon. UK imperial MPG is a different unit, so the US and UK model collections are kept separate.

Does the result include my monthly car payment?

No. These pages measure economic ownership cost through depreciation. Use the car-loan and total-cost calculators to examine payment, APR and monthly cash flow separately.
